Spend a night in a bird's nest!

Oh we couldn’t believe it when we first heard about it, but it is real. Between Mount Kenya to the east and the Great Rift Valley to the west stands a huge bird’s nest, where you can spend a night. And it looks nothing less than the real one! So feel like falcon or eagle with a 360 degree view of pristine nature. Luckily, you won’t have to hunt your own food because romantic dinner and breakfast are arranged here. Lower deck below nest has fully working bathroom and bedroom so there’s no need to fly away if you don’t want to.

If you prefer something more conservative Segera Retreat also offers amazingly decorated villas, some of them have even private pools to dip in. You can choose to dine in ‘Gatsby’ style, or more privately in your private lounge. Enjoy selection of African wines and all food is made from locally sourced ingredients. Owner’s of Segera Retreat are also very serious about sustainability and there’s a lot of effort in giving back to the community.

There is a long list of experiences, including flight tours in the biplane that remembers Kenya’s first explorers. It was bought on auction in Paris and brought back to Africa by the resort owners. You might also remember it from ‘Return to Africa’ movie with Meryl Streep and Robert Redford. Other experiences include helicopter rides to Mt. Kenya (amazing views), Lakes where you can spot thousands of pink flamingoes, desert-like Suguta Valley which is one of the few places where mankind begun. You can also visit local community or involve in conservation project (like observing lions!)
